We are expanding this year with the addition of facilities to accommodate group gatherings and weddings. We have two new buildings under construction which should be completed by the end of July, together with a fully serviced (sewer, water and electric) treehouse overlooking our hemp field.
Altogether, these accommodations can sleep 17 people, and our victorian all-glass greenhouse can seat over 100 people for dining, dancing, etc. Pictures and links for booking to follow. We will be hosting our first major wedding in September.
The fruit this year looks amazing: the kiwi vines are ripping across the pergola like never before, promising an abundance of fall kiwis as well as a lush canopy for events. The blueberry bushes are completely loaded, and we just moved our strawberry plants into our unique trellises which require no bending over to pick. We have mid and late season strawberries which should start ripening by the weekend of June 28th.
We typically begin our blueberry season on the second weekend of July, which falls on the 12th this year. We have over a dozen varieties spanning the summer until Labor Day, although my personal favorites are the Sweethearts, which are the first to ripen. And yes, we are 100% organic, and no, our bushes have NEVER been sprayed with anything!
We are continuing to replant our raspberry and blackberry fields which were decimated a couple of winters ago. I’m not sure they’ll produce enough this year to accommodate u-pick, stay tuned.
The tree fruit looks promising as well this year, more on that later as we see what fruit actually sets.
That’s it for now, please sign up for fruit ripening alerts if you haven’t already done so, it’ll be first come, first serve, particularly with the strawberries, which we never have enough of.
Hope to see you here,
Paul
